Deals Gap - April 2007

1/2 sec f8 iso 400 18mm

I brought my 'old' Canon 300d on my bike trip. It was a good opportunity for me to practice on it, as it has been relegated to backup use since I bought the 30d. It didn't take too long for me to 'remember' the controls.

I took this picture after dinner on our 1st night at Tapoco lodge (www.tapocolodge.com). The sun was setting behind the Smokey Mountains, and the outdoor (sodium light) was casting a warm glow on the bikes. While I was setting up the shot, the light flickered off. I guess it was failing and giving an orange cast instead of the cold bluish cast associated with sodium lighting. I had to jump a few times and tap on the light enclosure to get it to come back on. The shot was taken on a tripod, on self timer to prevent vibration.

Prints up to 13"x19" gallery style available for sale, matting to 18"x24" extra.
